I am a mother and wife of 2 small children and a husband.  We are struggling really bad.  The doctors tell me that I shouldn't be working because I have several medical problems.  But when I apply for SSDI they say I don't have enough work hours or whatever to be able to eligable for it.  If your disabled then how do they expect us to get those hours?  I am 20 years old and I've had a job for a little but apparently not enough to get SSDI because I can't work now.  Also I was going to go back to college but I was penalized for something that wasn't my fault and I'm being held accountable for it which is totally wrong because I was doing all I could to pass college then my computer gets stolen and the cops wont do anything about it.  We have such a broken Government system and I would have liked for my computer to have either been found or another purchased for me.  I can't afford $1200 for another one that the police just let walk away.  So anyone else know where I'm coming from?

If you can't receive SSDI benefits then you are eligible for SSI benefits. Go online to SSA.org or call the Social Security Administration. Also, since you became disabled so young, you should be able to apply for SSDI benefits under your parents work history, these are called "Child Benefits." Also check into this option with the SSA, either at your local office, by phone or online. Hope this is helpful.
